Research On Competitiveness Of Dalian Port Among Bohai Sea Port Cluster

Dalian is the opening window of northeastern China, with a large number of ports and rich natural resources, which is suitable for the development of port economy,owning natural conditions for a big international port to construct. Dalian port is one of the five largest hub ports in China, with the advantage basic condition in building an International Shipping Center in Northeast Asia. However, other ports around the Dalian port have a rapid development, presenting a serious challenge for the hub of Dalian port in recent years, particularly the development power of the neighbor ports can not be ignored, such as the Yingkou port, Yantai port. Looked at the whole of the Bohai region, the two competitors, Tianjin port and Qingdao port, have also proposed to build an International Shipping Center respectively in their strategic planning, which exacerbate competition among the Bohai Sea Port Cluster to some extent, and form a pattern competition of"Three-Port-Opposition". For the time being, if Dalian port wants to obtain the advantage of an international port and International Shipping Center in port competition, it must become stronger first among the Bohai Sea Port Cluster, because the core of International Shipping Center is the port. Only in the Bohai Sea region to achieve a competitive advantage, can it not fail on the invincible of the International Shipping Center competition and be achieved to the international port. In this way, how to improve the competitiveness of Dalian port in the Bohai Sea Port Cluster is faced to us.In this paper, we start to the connotation of the port competitiveness and features, present the causes of the port, content and determinants of the port competition, analyze the distribution of current major ports in the Bohai Sea region, as well as Dalian port competitive pressures, and then establish the index evaluation system for port competitiveness. On this basis, the Dalian port is being conducted an empirical analysis of the competitiveness among the Bohai Sea Port Cluster, defined the level of the competitiveness of Dalian port and existing strengths and weaknesses, finally put forward some suggestions for Dalian port's problems.
