Research Of Efficiency Of 3PL Industry Based On DEA

With the deepening of China's economic reform,the 3PL industry faces unprecedented opportunities and challenges.Under this context,questions of what's the situation of China's3PL efficiency and how to improve 3PL efficiency are of major importance to both academic and business circles.This thesis first defines the concept of 3PL,and analyzes its market and property structure.After comparing various methods of efficiency evaluation,this thesis introduces DEA method,and calculates the technology efficiency(TE),pure technology efficiency(PTE),and scale efficiency(SE) of sample firm.Through the comparison of each sample's efficiency,we can see that our 3PL firm is of low efficiency,which has the potential to get improved.When analyzing of the sources of enterprise inefficiency which is caused by scale inefficiency,we find out that the scale inefficiency is closely connected with the small size of China's 3PL firm,which failed to reach a certain economy scale.After calculating the efficiency of each 3PL firm,this thesis builds a Tobit model to analyze all factors that influence efficiency.As suggests by the result:there are positive correlation significantly between market share and efficiency,and negative correlation significantly between current ratio and efficiency;while the correlation between corporate goveranance,ownership and efficiency are insignificant.One possible reason for this is the independent board system of China's listed company is not sound.Then the thesis builds a measurement model to analyze the relation among efficiency of 3PL industry,market structure and performance.This model confirms that the ESS exsits in the 3PL industry,market structure and performance are determined by SE of firm.Based upon the results mentioned above,this thesis suggests how to improve the efficiency of 3PL firm,enterprises' performance and competitiveness,and advices related policies.
