Along with the arrival of service economy, service industry has become the industry taking a absolutely leading position in national economy. Producer services are taking more and more role in service industry. The functions greatly promoted city's synthesized function and strengthened city's competition power in the region and even the whole world. Producer services, such as financial services, insurance, telecommunications, transportation, leasing and technical services industry, have been developing rapidly and become the most important economic foundation in the city. Beijing and Shanghai are facing the urban development transition- from scale expansion to functional development, which are respective the core city of Jing-Jin-Ji metropolitan area and the Yangtze Delta metropolitan area. And there are some Similarity and difference in promoting each city's synthesized function and strengthening each city's competition power in the region by Producer services.Basing on the comparative analysis with industry relevancy and spatial distribution, this thesis discusses the development status and space feature of producer services and reveals the difference of space feature in different city. These would provide a scientific basis for choosing the suitable regional development patterns and rational distribution for unban development.First of all, this thesis introduces the means of the topic selection and the relative concept of producer services, revives progress of producer services at home and abroad, and discusses the research content, frame and technical approach.Secondly, through the research on the city economy and its change in Beijing and Shanghai, the thesis reveals the development background of producer services in these two cities. Basing on the comparative analysis with the total development of producer services and development statue, competitiveness and leading role in internal industries in Beijing and Shanghai, the thesis comes to the following conclusions: Producer services take on more technology-intensive and knowledge-intensive features in Beijing, while on traditional industries dominant characteristics such as wholesale and retail sector and the transportation industry in Shanghai.Thirdly, basing on the analysis on the intermediate demand of producer services in Beijing and Shanghai by input-output analysis, it's revealed that there exist different demand degree on different industries and internal industries for producer services in Beijing and Shanghai. Then, basing on the comprehensive analysis of industry energy level and industry relevancy influence degree, the thesis analyses the effect of industry relevancy in different producer services in Beijing and Shanghai. The following conclusions were drawn. Producer services which have strong industry relevancy influence invent more into services industry than manufacturing industry both in Beijing and Shanghai. And there exist difference on different industry.Fourthly, basing on the comprehensive analysis of development statue, competitiveness, leading role and industry relevancy influence, the thesis gives producer services an integrated positioning, selecting the industries which affect producer services' development rate and thence and give rise to the radiated and collective effect. All the selected industries are similar both in Beijing and Shanghai.Finally, the thesis sum up the distribution feature of producer services including the whole industry and the sub-sectors both Beijing and Shanghai by analyzing two cities' producer services spatial distribution. The spatial distribution of producer services with an obvious layer attenuation pattern shows an general assembling while a local differentiation, which shows the high concentration in the local center. The spatial distribution of the majority of sub-sector industries in the static and dynamic changes seems the same in Beijing and Shanghai, while having some different emphases.
