The Export Structure Of Zhejiang And Its Effect On Economic Transformation

In the long history of the economic development in many countries or regions, the process of economic growth and industrialization are closely relative to the development of foreign trade. In the open economy, trade structure reflects the industrial competition and position in international division of that country or region. It is not allowed to neglect the effect of trade structure on improving industrial structure. In theory, trade structure especially export structure is determined by industrial structure. But trade structure may influence industrial structure by changing the distribution of resource among different departments, thereby urges economic growth and transformation. Therefore, it's meaningful for the better development of Zhejiang's economy to study the inner relationship between export structure and its influence on industrial economic transformation in Zhejiang.The main purpose of this paper is to research export structure and its influence on industrial economic transformation by analyzing the characteristic and the reason for the formation of Zhejiang's export structure, and to put forward some proposition on how to improve export structure in the view of industrial economic transformation. The result shows that in recent twenty years Zhejiang's export structure has been improved, the export share of capital-intensive and technology-intensive commodities has been promoted but most of the competitive commodities are labor-intensive. Supply, demand and institution leads to its formation. Contrasted with Jiangsu and Guangdong, the development of Zhejiang's export are endogenetic, ordinary trade are in dominant position and the regional distributing are relatively equal.The experience of Zhejiang indicates that the change of export structure has impact on trade surplus and the mode of industrial economic growth, and transmits to industrial economic transformation. Thereby the government must take the choice on industry, method of trade and target region into consideration when constituting export policy. Zhejiang should combine endogenetic force with ectogenous force and promote economic transformation by adjusting export structure.This paper is divided into five chapters:The first chapter is introduction. This chapter puts forward the background and meanings, relevant literature review, the method and content of this paper. The second chapter analyzes the characteristic of evolution of Zhejiang's export structure and the reason for its formation.The third chapter we compare foreign trade structure of Zhejiang with that of Jiangsu and Guangdong from the angles of business entity, method of trade, market structure and regional distributing, and come out the characteristic of Zhejiang's foreign trade structure.The fourth chapter we discuss the problems with Zhejiang's export structure and industrial economic transformation. We begin with the foreign trade surplus of Zhejiang which increases year by year, analyze its characteristic and effect on Zhejiang's economy. Secondly, we discuss the relationship between export structure and the mode of economic development, and analyze the effect of export structure on the improvement of industrial structure in the angles of FTP, economic efficiency and structure efficiency, market structure. At last, we expatiate on how to improve export structure in the view of promoting industrial economic transformation.The final chapter is suggestion. We put forward some countermeasures on how to promote the transformation of industrial economy by taking use of export structure.At last we get our conclusion and what to study further.
