An Empirical Study On Technical Efficiencies And Its Deteminant Of Telecommunication Carriers

This article discusses mainly about the relationship between market structure, property structure and technical efficiencies of telecommunication carriers. Using the S-C-P analytical pattern for reference, adopting the Stochastic Frontier Analysis method, this article carries out an empirical study on analyzing how the market structure and property structure have affected the technical efficiencies of telecommunication carriers in different countries.According to the different characters of different countries, this article divides the countries into 4 parts: US, UK, China and Europe, and models and assesses the technical efficiencies of each part. The conclusion is that market competition has a positive impact on technical efficiencies. Privatization may help to enhance the technical efficiencies, while a high level of first shareholding may have a negative impact on technical efficiencies.
