Jilin province, lies in the center of northeast China, is a key commodity grain base. In recent decades, together with economic and population boost, environment issues such as saltilization, grassland and soil degradation emerge. Jilin province will step into a"golden developing epoch"in near future; strong needs of land will surely make huge impact to the intension, method, scale, distribution of land use. It is a new issue of how to manage land use to balance between economic development and environment protection. This article researches land use versus environment in Jilin province, provides scientific evidence to support sustainable development. The paper analysis the relation between land use and environment by means of qualitative and quantitative analysis methods. Qualitative analysis shows the impact made by land development. Then, by quantitative analysis, we calculate the ecosystem service values of forest, farmland, grassland, water area, wetland, non-irrigated farmland of year 1993 and 2003, analysis the impact on ecosystem service value from land use change. In total, ecosystem service value raises in decade, but varies from land use types; forest and non-irrigated farmland's value has raised because of their acreage has increased, while the other land use types'value dropped, also because of decreasing acreage. The ecosystem service value contribution order are: forest> farmland> water area> wetland> grassland> non-irrigated farmland, in year 2003, forest's contribution is 70.08%.land uses face different issues due to variable natural and social conditions in different cities, hence we use cluster method to study land use in Jilin province, divide into: east mountain area (including Yanbian, Baishan, partial Tonghua and partial Jilin, 21 cities), middle hill area (including Changchun, Jilin, Liaoyuan, Siping, 18 cities) and west plain area (Baicheng, Songyuan, 10 cities). Then,on the basis of PSR (Pressure-Status-Response) framework, we establish a index system by the methodology of expert consulting, to analysis the correlation between land use and environment.based on PSR model and calculation, we present the correlation of land use and environment. Among 49 cities in Jilin province, there are 5 belongs to primitive co-development category, which is 10.20% of all cities; 30 belongs to moderate co-development category, which is 61.22%; 14 belongs to well co-development category, which is 28.57%. In east mountain area, there are 8.33% cities belongs to well co-development category, 58.33% moderate co-development, and 33.33% primitive co-development; in middle hill area, there are 38.49% belongs to well co-development category, 55.56% moderate co-development, 5.56% primitive co-development; in west plain area, there are 10.00% belongs to well co-development category, 90.00% moderate co-development, there's no primitive co-development cities in west area. Figures shows that in overview, land use and environment are co-developing in Jilin province. This article will contribute to the sustainable development and strategies of jilin province.
