At present, the problem of the pension for the aged in China's rural area is faced with several difficulties. They at least include: the process of aging in the rural area is serious; the family support for the aged is decreasing; system of the support for the aged is scare and there is a lack of resource that the aged in the rural area can use. To solve these problems, first of all, we have to make clear what kind of the model of the support is suitable for the aged in the rural area. This article analyses the problems that faced by the support for the aged in the rural area, and has a definition of the model of the support for the aged. According to the grouping principle of who is the provider of the supporting resources, the supporting model for the aged is grouped into four categories in this article: traditional family supporting model for the aged, the self-supporting model, house-supporting model and the social security model of the support for the aged, which are further discussed in the article.Under the traditional family supporting model for the aged, the supporting resources are mainly provided by the children. At present, this model is still dominant in the rural area, but with the development of the society and economy, it is more difficult to further implement the function of the family support for the aged. Self-supporting model exists popularly in the rural area. It has not been promoted and guided as a formal system yet, however. House-supporting model is a fresh way to support the aged. In this part, the basic situations are introduced. Meanwhile, some problems involved in this model which should be paid more attention and the developing tendency are discussed. And in the part of the social security for the aged, the basic situation about the implementation of the social security system for the aged in the 1980s and the reasons for its failure are introduced. The key is to explain the basic conditions that are formed for the social security system in the rural area at present and the according tragedies.The unbalance of the economic, social, and cultural development of different regions determined the situation that in a certain period, there will be various models of the supporting system for the aged in the rural area. It is unpractical to solve the problem of supporting the aged in the countryside only depending on one single model.
