The patent literatures, as the carrier of development of new technologies, are being taken more and more attention by countries, companies and individuals. Faced with massive information, how to extract information from the valuable information effectively and to judge the development of a technology and technological trend is an important problem for enterprises. First, combined with patent portfolio analysis, this paper evaluates the life cycle of the technology, the high production organizations and the R & D focus in recent years. Secondly, from the perspective of patent citations, the citation network with time describes the relationship between patents. According to the citation network, we can clearly see which patent is cited by more patents and identify the core or important patents. Finally, the paper constructs the patent strategy matrix with the improved Boston Matrix. From the matrix we can determine what role the active enterprise is playing in the field of technology and help us identify their location and competitors.The paper analyzes the current development and technological trend of the polycarboxylate superplasticizer with the patent analysis. It confirms that the framework is feasible and scientific. At the same time, it provides a new perspective for the research of technological trend.
