With the rise of knowledge economy, human resource becomes one of the most important resources for the enterprise to gain advantage during competition. Management competence hence is paid more and more attention as strategic issue. How to be a successful manager? Is there a more effective way for the enterprise to coach the middle level or senior level managers? Where might be the practical starting point? This study is trying to explore the method by using group counseling, via increasing the emotional intelligence, to improve the manager's competence in the enterprises. Emotional intelligence includes two aspects:1. Understand "self":self emotion, target, intention, mode of response and behavior etc..2. Understand "others":other's emotion and various communication modes. This study considered that emotion might be a breakthrough point and group counseling could be an effective way. The study is processed on evidence-base, using vertical traceability to evaluate the feasibility and practicability of the group counseling applied in enterprise.As a preventive quasi-experiment, the study set up experiment and control group, both took pre-test and after-test, using various inventories. All data were processed by statistic software SAS. Also the experiment group presented subjective evaluation. The results are:1. Group counseling is an effective way to improve the management competence. 2. Group counseling has effects in improving emotional states and increases the emotional intelligence for both short term and long term. 3. The series of training program and counseling method need further development.
