As an important raw material in the chemical industry, acrylic acid is widely used in the production of acrylic ester, super absorbent polymer, abstergent auxiliaries and so on.The first acrylic acid installation of Shandong Kaitai Petrochemical Co., Ltd. was founded in2004and began production in2006. The designed production capacity of acrylic acid is30,000tons/year. Propylene which is the raw material of acrylic acid, in the presence of air and water vapor, reacts with oxygen twice while being through the catalyst bed. The first step is the oxidation of propylene to acrolein, the second step is acrolein further oxidized to the product acrylic acid. This paper mainly analyze2kinds of catalyst of Shandong Kaitai petrochemical first acrylic acid installation, Lanzhou petrochemical company’s catalyst and Nippon Kayaku Group’s catalyst, under the same conditions of oxidation reactors each case, by comparing their reactor feed consumption and conversion of propylene, oxygen-lean ratio of the raw material, the carbon balance of the reaction, the selectivity and yield of the target product, and the yield of the major by-products respectively.In the process, oxidation of propylene to acrolein, the propylene conversion rate of Lanzhou catalyst made in the average of99.060%higher than Nippon Kayaku Group’s catalyst which is98.881%, but the average selectivity of the target product acrolein68.6513%and an average yield of74.051%, respectively, is lower than Nippon Kayaku Group’s catalyst, which is80.277%and78.2368%. In the main by-product selectivity of acrylic acid and acetic acid, Nippon Kayaku Group’s catalyst is lower than the local catalyst. Generally, in this process, Nippon Kayaku Group’s catalyst performs better than local catalyst.In the process of oxidation of acrolein to acrylic acid, under the same conditions, the acrolein conversion rate of local catalyst is95.6706%, which is lower than Nippon Kayaku Group’s catalyst rate,98.8391%, the target product of the one-pass yield of acrylic acid in the local catalyst79.252%is also lower than Nippon Kayaku Group’s catalyst85.671%, while the yield of all the one-way by-product acetic acid, acrolein, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and acetaldehyde, etc. local catalyst is respectively higher than Nippon Kayaku Group’s catalyst. In the process, the catalytic activity of Nippon Kayaku Group’s catalyst is superior to domestic catalyst.Through four months statistical analysis, we conclude that Nippon Kayaku Group’s catalyst, which can reduce material consumption, increase economic efficiency, has better catalytic activity and catalytic performance than Lanzhou Petrochemical Co., Ltd. catalyst.
