In northern China, coal reserves are abundant, accounting for more than80%of national coal production. However, due to man-made and local environmental impact, making many areas of coal spontaneous combustion is very serious. Coalfield fire not only destroyed the coal resources, air pollution and biological health and human living environment is not protected. Wide coverage of remote sensing technology and its thermal infrared detection process is crucial in coalfield fire area, and therefore, based on remote sensing technology coal spontaneous combustion major disaster significance.Shanxi Datong Coal paper selected as the study area, select the data source remote sensing October2009, then using remote sensing technology for indoor interpreted. Referring to the collection of data from field surveys, and then get the mining land resource classification results and the distribution of mine fire area. On this basis, to study the impact on land resources of coal spontaneous combustion using band operation. The main contents: (1) First, the seriousness of the spontaneous combustion of coal in the study area, as well as the limitations of traditional coal fiery exception information extraction technology, remote sensing because of its technical characteristics itself, there are other methods to extract information unmatched thermal anomalies for coal fire area and land use superiority.(2) Remote sensing software applications, the data pre-processing. It can be delineated surface area of live fire, and the fire district to provide space for a variety of valuable information about the distribution of the location, the fire situation and dynamic change. Technical methods described in this article is that we put digital image processing techniques used for remote sensing image processing to detect an attempt coal fires. But it is sufficient to prove that, the use of remote sensing, digital image processing technology, coal fire detection has great potential.
