Based on the excellent mechanical and optical properties of polycarbonatematerial,it has been widely used in the fields of aerospace technology, and thequasi static mechanical properties of polycarbonate has gained substantial progressin the study. However in the practical application, polycarbonate materials often issubjected to the impact loads, and the mechanical properties of polycarbonatematerial under dynamic and static conditions are quite different. Therefore, thedynamic mechanical response of polycarbonate under impact load will be furtherresearched.First of all, through the Hopkinson test, the dynamic compression andtension mechanical response of polycarbonate is studied. Ignoring the effect of thetemperature effect, the dynamic mechanical properties of the material underdifferent strain rate is obtained. According to the Eyring model and ZWTconstitutive model, the relation between yield stress of polycarbonate at certaintemperature and strain rate as well as the constitutive relation of polycarbonate isobtained. The experimental results show that, under certain temperature, polycarbonate yield stress increases with increasing strain rate. At the same time, the high-speed cameras is used to analyze on the dynamic deformation of materialin the macro under stress wave loading. In addition, in order to further verify thereliability of experimental data, the dynamic deformation behavior of materialunder different strain rate by using2D-Dic technology is studied. Compared withthe experimental data obtained from SHPB and the result of2D-Dic,theirconclusion finally obtain good consistency.Secondly, the equation of state of Hugoniot of polycarbonate material underhigh pressure is studied in this paper. The new testing system consisted ofmanganin gauge, electromagnetic velocity gauge, PVDF and electron probe isused in the plate impact experimentsand. The data of shock wave speed, particlevelocity and the Hugoniot equation of state is obtained by the new testingsystem.Compared with the Carter and data of Marsh et al, the validity ofexperimental data is obtained.
