Allium plant species distribute widley in China, and they have a wide range of edible value, medicinal value and watching value. However, they are suffering serious damage. In order to protect the wild Allium plants and to meet market demand at the same time, we investigate adaptability and characters of Allium plants in different altitude gradient change by artificial cultivation. By measuring biological characters of five species, Allium ramosum,Allium neriniflorum, Allium tenuissimum, Allium senescens, Allium condensatum from artificial cultivation and field observation, the following conclusions were summarized.1. A. ramosum, A. neriniflorum, A. tenuissimum, A. Senescens and A. Condensatum showed good adaptability to Saibei and Tianjin experiment sites, and its properties was better than most of the wild ones. By actual measurement and artificial cultivation, for these five species, the height, biomass and other traits were significantly higher than those of wild. By comparison with the experiment found that low latitudes, good water conditions, the warm climate environment can make allium plants grow better, the phenophase of allium plants also change, part of the design and color of allium plants also changed.2. Seed germination of A. Ramosum was promoted by low level concentration of PEG solution(25g/l), and the first time to greminate was shortened. However, with the increase of PEG concentration, the germination percentage, germination index, and the first time to greminate of A. Ramosum was inhibited. It indicated that A. Ramosum was sentitive to drought stress in germination stage, and it was only adapt to low level drought stress.3. Through the A. Ramosum seed to salt stress and drought stress treatment, we found that the A. Ramosum seeds have certain adaptability to drought and salt stress, but with the increase of concentration, seed germination, bud seedling length and fresh weight of seedling stage and the synthesis of chlorophyll content were suppressed. The study indicated that A.Ramosum was suitable to cultivated in inland with saline soil.4. Our study suggested that these five species could be cultivated in different latitude sites. The success of the artificial cultivation experiments provided basis for industrializationof Allium plants. And it is not only useful for protecting the wild resources, but also for people to better and more comprehensive use of these specis.
