Mineral resources are natural resources which is an important part of peopleliving and production and is the material basis for the whole society. With thedevelopment of China’s industrialization and urbanization, it is necessary andsignificant to achieve prospecting breakthrough in consideration of the increasingdemand for mineral resources. Currently, the application of new methods and newtechnology is becoming a crucial part of mineral exploration work in view of thedifficulty of macro-mark of mineral exploration. Geogas, one of effective methods tofind buried mines, having advantages of probing depth and direct instruction features, came into being at1980s and could obtain prospecting information directly.Dashui gold deposit has entered a crisis mine after years of mining, needing toachieve a breakthrough urgently in the periphery or deep around it. In this paper, collected relative data of Dashui, geogas prospecting with modern analyticaltechniques has become a primary method to analyze geochemistry character of traceelement about ore and rock samples in the study area. Cluster and factor analysis havebeen applied to identify the elements close to Au mineralization. Potential mine lotshave been found by means of geochemical anomalies of elements calculated bytraditional statistical method and fractal summation method, combined with regionalgeological features. The results showed that:1. Bi、Au、W、Zn、Hg、Cu、Ti、Ag、As、Sb enriched through the research ofgeochemical character of trace elements about the rock and ore samples.2. Mo、Bi、Ag、Hg、Sb、As、Pb in rock and ore samples had close relationshipto Au mineralization by R cluster analysis and they were the guiding elements todiscover the hidden gold deposit.3. Using factor analysis, Au had a good correlation with As、Bi、Pb、Mo according to combination law of elements in geogas, which was mainly in line with the result ofR cluster analysis.4. The low limit of geochemical anomalies of elements calculated by fractalsummation method was less than that of traditional statistical method according toresults of the two methods. Compared to anomaly maps of single element, drawingsby fractal summation method had a good anastomosis to the geological structure.5. Dot marks from B8to B16in B line had potential mineral exploration on thebasis of integrated anomaly map of the research area.
