With the rapid development of computer technology and remote sensingtechnology, the distributed hydrological model obtained the fast development both athome and abroad. The upstream of Zhang River-the waters above the Zhuo ZhangRiver Guan River reservoir, located in Shanxi Province, is the northern source of theZhuo Zhang River. In order to forecast the rainfall runoff in this region better, andprovide technical support for watershed management. This paper chooses the ZhuoZhang River Guan River reservoir as watershed entry and researches the rainfallrunoff for the drainage area controlled by the reservoir with SWAT model. Thecontents and results are as follows:1. Methods selection. Based on the existing achievements, this paper expoundsthe basic theory, research methods and research progress of the distributedhydrological model, and extracts the relevant hydrological characteristics of thisregion by using of geographic information system. Through collecting and sortingmaterials, this paper makes relevant analysis on the DEM, soil and land use map withArcGIS9.3software and extracts the gradient map. Through the analysis andcomparison of the data, this paper chooses the SWAT (Soil and Water AssessmentTool) model developed by American Agriculture Department as the basic hydrologicalmodel of the study.2. Modeling. Through processing the data, calculating corresponding parameters, sorting hydrometeorological data, analyzing the water storage project and the regionaleconomy, this paper adjusts and analyzes one by one the relevant parameterscombining with its physical meaning, and then builds up the model of the database.3. Through the simulation of monthly runoff of the region in1990-2009, and thecorrection on the model with the measured value, this paper discusses the relationshipof the rainfall runoff of the researched region above the Guan River reservoir and theapplicability of this model in this region. Results show that simulation evaluationcoefficients are in the required range, and that the SWAT model is suitable to theresearched region above the Guan River reservoir and that the results of the yearlyrunoff of the model are preferable. But at the same time, the results of the simulationof the monthly runoff of the model in the median water year and the low water year are satisfactory, but in a few special wet years, there is a deviation on the simulationresults.
