With the rapid development of economy in our country, the available landresource gradually decrease, and lots of reclamation activities are emergingincreasingly. Reclamation projects utilize marine space for coastal areas to provide theprecious land space resources for the development of coastal economic, greatlyalleviate the contradiction between population and land, with bringing huge benefitsfor the development of economy and society. Artificial island as a form ofreclamation, has been widely applied to the actual construction.The traditional reclamation takes up a lot of natural shoreline and is notconducive to the sustainable use of beaches resources, causing great damage tolimited shoreline resources. The artificial island has a certain distance from theshoreline, which can effectively reduce the occurrence of these situations. Because ofthe artificial island involving a variety of disciplines, restricted by many factors, thereis no established a relatively unified complete evaluation criteria. Layout as theimportant work of artificial design and construction, it is necessary to evaluate islandlayout research.The article takes the west coast of Qingdao proposed artificial island as anexample, analyzing the rationality of artificial island location at first. And then severalartificial island layout scheme are put forward.Appling numerical model to simulatethe changes of tide, wave and sediment after artificial island construction, thedifferent layout scheme is in comparison with each other and finally the rationalityanalysis is made on layout. Concrete results and the conclusion: The construction of artificial island has little effect on overall tidal current fieldand has small changes in flow velocity and direction. The velocity of artificial islandsoutheast of three schemes is large, the flow velocity of the third scheme is largest.In the second scheme and the third scheme, the tidal current velocity betweenartificial island is relatively scattered. The flow velocity of the third scheme is slightlylarger than it of the second.The sea waves between artificial island and shoreline of three schemes spreadevenly and have little height. It can indicate that the construction of artificial islandscan provide good cover for shoreline. Artificial island in the second scheme havemuch more distance from the coastline, so the wave height of second scheme is muchhigher than it of the others.After action of the no wind and S, SE direction of big wind, the san areasurrounding artificial island of the first scheme is mainly composed of siltation, andsiltation volume is little. It is several obvious erosion areas that are located in theisland north and south. Under the no wind and E direction big wind condition, thesecond scheme is mainly composed of little siltation, and the largest erosion area islocated in the island south. After the action of the big wind of SE direction, it canbasically maintain no erosion. After the effect of three kinds of wind condition, therange of erosion and deposition in the third scheme is dispersed, and siltation volumeand erosion volume are large.As for the aspect of tide, wave, sediment prediction analyzing, the secondscheme is better than the others, so it is recommended. Through qualitative andquantitative methods to carry on the artificial island layout rationality research, therationality research of artificial island layout is preliminarily discussed.
