R oil field is located in the South Sumatra basin of Indonesia, which is a complicatedmulti-strata block reservoir with edge-bottom water. The main target is Lower Talang Akardelta deposit sandstone of Early Tertiary. At present, the development of R oil field is in themiddle to tail stage, the former POD is not satisfied the present production demands due tothe limited geological data. In order to acquire better recognition of this reservoir, reservoirevaluation becomes extremely significant. In addition, energy prices fluctuate sharply owingto the world economic development and frequent geopolitical events. Therefore, reasonablerisk assessment of the POD is in favor of the POD adjustment.Aim at acquiring the better cognition of reservoir characteristics, this paper presented asystematical research method for reservoir description based on abundant geological data.Firstly, the distribution of Lower Talang Aka formation combined with guide bed and cycle ofsedimentation feature was described, and then the structure characteristics based oninterpretation results of3D seismic data were analyzed. Furthermore, micro-faciesdistribution characteristics were obtained by the research of core and regional study results.Four properties’ relations study and reservoir evaluation were completed through theutilization of fundamental data. Finally, a3D geological model was built based on the aboveresults by the use of stochastic modeling method for the purpose of further reservoirdescription.Aim at providing a better support to risk assessment of the POD, the uncertainty analysisof key modeling parameters was imported into the3D geological modeling. Sensitivityanalysis and volume analysis were carried out after3D uncertainty geological modeling.Based on above study,a method of uncertainty analysis for3D geological modelingwhich is suitable for the study area has been set up. Integrated modeling technique was usedin3D uncertainty geological modeling. Sensitivity analysis and volume analysis have beenapplied to risk assessment of the POD.
