From 1990s the research about the core competence has become a hot of the corporate strategy theory, and also been deemed an origin of corporate continual competence advantage. But until now the theory is not perfect in its concept and principle, and researchers' opinions are not unanimous, which confused managers in how to cultivate and strengthen their own core competence.This research's purpose is to design a set of scientific indexes to evaluate the core competence for the manager to cultivate the core competence. So I summarize all previous achievements about it firstly, and make my own opinion based on such theory as the core competence is a capacity but a outcome; The core competence is a integrated power but a core power; The core competence is a growing power but a motionless power; The core competence is a integration of the core part of ordinary competence; Every indexes of ordinary competence can affect the core competence, but which are not always a part of the core competence, etc.This article provides a new thinking to explicit the indexes of the core competence theoretically and practically, that is designing two sets of indexes about the reasonable and resultant indexes, and the two sets can test and verify each other and improve each other. The resulting indexes is about to interpret "What is?" the core competence, which can make managers clear about their corporate core competence and position in their industry, and which can be distinguished easily and calculated easily. The reasoning indexes is about to interpret "Why is?" the core competence, which can make managers clear about which indexes are important or not to the core competence, so to cultivate and strengthen those important indexes focally, but which are not easy to distinguish and calculate. As a manager he must pay more attention to the reasoning indexes but the resulting indexes.Through studying previous theory and looking up documents this article constructs two sets of indexes to evaluate the core competence, and practically evaluate seven listed companies in Electronics & Information industry. By unitary regression approach we can see that the two group of data have extremely notable linear correlation, which indicate the two sets of indexes are reasonable to some extent.
