In this dissertation, the mechanical structures, functional characteristics and the basic testing methods of the current friction-and-wear testers are analyzed; integrating computer programming and dynamic intelligent control technology, the friction-and-wear tester system can be divided into several main modules. Then these modules are embedded into universal testing template. Finally, the hardware information of the tester is channeled into the testing system by use of the wizard-style, to build the friction-and-wear test software conveniently.Firstly, the dissertation summarizes the characteristics of the common friction-and-wear tester and introduces the information acquisition and treatment of main measurement parameters. Then the analysis and treatment methods of friction and friction coefficient of rotating and reciprocating movements are introduced. At the same time, the variable frequency speed regulation system and the communications way of dynamic data are also introduced.According to the features of testing system, the whole system is divided into data acquisition and data display module, load control and speed control module, limit alarm, database storage and the curve report preview module. The programmed main function modules'codes were encapsulated into OCX control units by use of Visual Basic; finally a universal test template was built up, and the main functional modules were embeded into the testing template by ActiveX technology. In the design of the new testing system of friction-and-wear tester, the only thing to do for the user is to import the communication settings, parameter settings, curve settings of tester and so on during setting the process in the wizard-style, so as to quickly set up the testing system and to save a lot of development time and cost.Finally, taking a face to face tester and a multifunctional tester as the application examples, the experimental results indicate that the process of testing system is convenient, human-machine interface is friendly and the testing software is steady, which can meet the general requirements of modern tribology testings.
