The automatic mapping system of tire section is developped for tire section structured design. Generally, tire mapping depends on manual operation. Some related facilities, used for tire section, need peope to participate as well and the people is demanded for strong knowledge in the field. Considering these problems, research on the automatic mapping system of tire section becomes very significant. Image measuring method has many advantages, such as non-contact, high speed, abundant information and large dynamic range. Based on these advantages, this method is very suitable for automatic mapping situation. Therefore, research on image processing method for this system becomes very critical.This paper makes research on image processing methord for tire automatic mapping system, and the main research contents are as follows:1 Research on path optimization algorithm for image acquisition. According to the actual characteristics of the tire section, a path optimization algorithm based on boundary scale is used. By doing experiments, it is found that the advantage of this algorithm can shorten the time of image acquisition and reduce complexity of subsequent image processing.2 Research on image mosaic algorithm. According to the object of tire and the acquisition mode of actual system,an image mosaic algorithm based on region similarity is proposed. And an image fushion algorithm is propsed to solve stitching seam problems, this algorithm based on an overlap region to smooth transition, it is a relativly perfact way achieve seamless.3 Research on feature extraction algorithm of wire belt. According to the characteristic of the tire belt, a feature extraction algorithm based on mathematical morphological dilation is proposed. First, found the center of each wire; second, determined the layer by the relationship of centers'position; finally, verified the feasibility by experiment.4 Research on wire segmentation algorithm. According to the characteristics of adhesion binary image, a improved watershed segmentation algorithm based on distance transformation and ultimate erosion is proposed. Compared with normal algorithms, this algorithm can solve the adhesion and over-segmentation problems more efficient, and the feasibility is verified by experiments. By using the algorithms in this paper, the parameters of belt and wire can be obtained, and then people can use advanced technologies, such as CAD / CAM / CAE, to improve existing tires.
