Because of imaging clearly, low noise and many other outstanding advantages, scientific CCD camera has been widely used in scientific research, military reconnaissance, aviation, and so on. Based on the study of the CCD,s imaging principle, this paper used the kodak KAF-1603 as the core imaging component, and considered the USB advantages with high speed,supporting plug and play, etc, researched a scientific CCD camera based on the USB.Firstly, this paper compared and studied three data acquisition and processing designs, and selected the design of hardware acquisition and software processing which was short development cycle, low cost and good scalability. Secondly, it made a comparative study about some kinds of interface technology, the usb was used to translate data between camera and pc. According to the design and building hardware platform, In the design, the ad9824 of ADI was used as the analog to digital converter, many circuit module of the the ad9824 can reduce the difficulty of the circuit design, and it should be placed near the CCD, in this way, this circuit can reduce readout noise; made full use of the advantages of FPGA with free programmable and high-speed process to control the circuit; the CY7C68013 was used to complete the communication between CCD and pc. At last, this paper used the development kit of Cypress and Keil C51 to design firmware; used the Driver Studio to compile the drive; used the Visual C++ to compile application, and called the API functions to complete the communication between driver and application, compiled the user functions to process the image data.After debugging and simulating the USB data transmission circuit, it was proved that the circuit, firmware and driver can work well, and realized the expected functions.
