Optical image processing is a technology for high-speed process and transmission of image information by optical method with advantages of small size, large capacity, parallelism, fast, etc. It has been widely applied to fields of communication systems, satellite systems, physical therapy imaging systems, seismic survey systems, and so on. Optical feedback is coming into being by introducing feedback technology to image processing. The transfer function of feedback system can be change flexibly in certain extent and the processing capacity is enhanced in the same time. Accordingly, it begins to be current research focus. This paper mainly study on image processing based on optical feedback system.The first topic is the correlation theory of optical image processing system and the development and application of optical feedback system. And then, thorough research is executed on optical feedback system. A base optical feedback system is design to iterate image in line with the foundation principles. A comparative analysis on pseudocoherent feedback system, opto-electronic hybrid system, coherent feedback system. Subsequently, starting from the theory of optical spectrum, multiple imaging technology based on optical spectrum sampling is put forward. The feasibly of multiple imaging based on sinusoidal grating, Ronchi grating, Damman grating and SLM is demonstrated not only by theoretical analysis but also by experimental verification. Following by the discussion on relationship of multiple imaging and optical feedback system, a novel attempt to apply multiple imaging technology to high quality beam-split in optical feedback system is presented. In the end, the relation of image iterated function system and fractal has been studied. The optical construction of affine transform is proposed to achieve optical affine transform of image. Optical image iterated function system is established by combination optical affine transform and optical feedback system. Related simulation experiments and physical experiments have been done. The stability and expansibility of the system is discussed according to results of experiments.Innovative approaches in this paper include: (1) filtering on optical spectrum plane to multiple image, not only with the advantages of high-speed parallel on process speed, but also with controllability and expansibility on configuration; (2) using multiple imaging technology to high quality beam-split in optical feedback system, with larger precision and capacity when compared with the ability of beam-split by optical beam-splitter and array micro devices; (3) synthesizing the functions of several types of optical devices to achieve optical affine transform, with the superiority that affine transform parameters is adjustable and controllable; (4) assembling optical affine transform to base optical feedback system to realize image processing iteration, not only with the properties of coherent processing but also with the advantages that system can be flexibly varied.
