Education is a social activity that human beings have been conducting consciously and purposefully to cultivate personnel. It is a concept of relationship, which has four basic elements: educator, educatee, education approaches and education content, known as education's four, indispensable major points.Among them, education content refers to knowdge while education itself means teaching activities in which educators help educatees accomplish the process of knowledge evolution by taking certain educational approaches.The final effect of educational activities can be measured by the depth of knowledge evolution.Therefore, knowledge evolution depends much on educational teaching activities while the latter functions as the vehicle of conducting the former. Educational teaching activities are dominant while knowledge evolution is the result implied in the activities.The traditional teaching model is mainly based on the learning theory of behavior constructivism. However, with the development of the society, it can no longer meet the modern society's needs for personnel cultivating. The rapid development of computer network technologies have made on-line teaching a hot spot of educational research.On-line teaching is a teaching model based on constructivism and its learning methods.In this model,education's four major elements have changed their roles.Learners become the main part and active knowledge constructor while teachers perform as the organizer, tutor, helper and promoter. Teaching material acts as the object of learner's constructivism and media serves as the tool of learning. This model,which reveals the characteristics of information times.,fits well with the modern society's needs for people's cultivation and is essential for setting up life long education system and realizing the society of learning.Compared to the traditional teaching, the current on-line teaching, though acquires more advantages, still needs to improve the following:1)The process of knowdge evolution while teaching lacks order and effectiveness.On-line teaching emphasize on learners'independent learning. However, the rich resources on line makes it hard for learners to search and screen the targeted information from such a wide range and thus this leads to low effeciency. Besides, a disorder in the learning process is likely to occur because teachers play a relatively less important role in on-line teaching guiding.2)The quality of real-time interaction is likely to be affected by the network speed.3)Non-real-time interactive activities lack management and monitoring.4)Learners cannot develop emotional communication and personality cultivation in on-line learning.Therefore, this article puts forward to build a new platform for long-distance interaction- collaborative whiteboard.This whiteboard, starting from the key application of knowledge evolution in on-line teaching, has transformed the original on-line teaching environment.The author's great contributions in this article are:1)The author has proposed and defined the concept of the evolution of knowledge, from knowledge management, teachers'teaching activity,'learners'learning process, interaction and in all directions, expatiates on the process of knowledge-evolution2)An entirely new interactive whiteboard systems WSSI has been designed and some of its key techonogies are discussed based on the research work of knowledge evolution in various teaching activities.3)The prototype system of WSSI has been designed and implemented.4)With WSSI applied to the actual teaching process, the actual test samples studied and learners learning effect and teachers teaching effect analysed and compared in traditional teaching, common on-line teaching and WSSI system based on-line teaching, WSSI on-line teaching's characteristics and advantages have stood out.
