Now, the traditional mothed such as RS232, RS485, CAN is mainly used to compose network in the field of industrial control, but the working radius of the mothod is too limited to realize remote monitoring. With the development of Internet, how to introduce Internet into the field of industrial control, to expand the scope of data transmission has became the research focus.A protocol converter based on ARM+FPGA hardware platform is designed to solve the above problem and realize remote monitoring of serial devices. uC/OS-â…¡and a small TCP/IP stack is transplanted in ARM, and it can communicate with a client in Internet through RTL8019AS; a independent multi-channel parallel serial port module is realized in FPGA, and it can communicate with serial devices through LTC485; communication interface between ARM and FPGA is designed to implement the bi-directional data flow of client to serial device and serial to client. The design presented in this paper can implement remoter monitoring of serial devices without changing the structure of original devices, which reduces the cost of system upgrades; and it's transparent to the protocol used by serial devices, which expanded the system applications. The protocol converter has been tested in actual project, experiment result shows that this system runs, and realizes the remote monitoring of serial devices.
