Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is a new technology of Internet. It got widespread by being used in many aspects of human life. Therefore, WSN is known as one of the most important technologies in 21st century.Routing algorithm has its own features. As energy of WSN is limited, routing is one of the key points and most difficult part in studying WSN. In order to deal with this issue, the energy of WSN is analyzed and studied firstly. And the connection between routing algorithm and energy also is studied:routing algorithm is restricted by energy and the routing algorithm effects energy consuming. For searching on algorithm with energy balance to save energy and sent message rapidly, this paper mainly researches on the operating mode of network layer and routing algorithm, major jobs are as follows:Firstly, the existing routing protocols are comprehended and studied well. Many types of routing protocols are compared, and all the features of these protocols are summed up. LEACH protocol, which is a classic hierarchy routing protocol, is studied deeply. An optimal point of LEACH protocol improvement is found by simulating and analyzing it. At last, the optimal number of clusters is acquired.Secondly, achieving balanced energy consumption of the network is the key point of this paper in all kinds of routing algorithm research of WSN. Based on the analyzing of principles of routing protocol optimization, the LEACH protocol is improved, and an energy-balanced routing algorithm is described. For deducing its defects, the hierarchy choice method of routing is described. According to the features of WSN, a simulation models with network, node, and routing protocols is set up. Finally, it shows that the new algorithm can reduce the network energy consumption and make energy balance distribute in the network appropriately by analyzing the simulation results.
