In recent years, water resources shortages in our country have become increasingly serious problems, people paid more attention to conservation and efficient use of water. As the most consumption of water resources, our country develops water saving irrigation technology and increases the efficient use of water in agricultural production that is an important way to relieve the crisis of water resources. The important prerequisite for implementing water-saving irrigation technology is to acquire soil moisture information timely and accurately.Aiming at the characteristics of soil moisture measure with measured large area, measured numerous points and long observation time, the scheme of wireless sensor network (WSN) soil moisture detection systems is proposed. Hardware design of test nodes are implemented by selecting CC2430 chip and EC-5 soil moisture sensor and communication protocol is designed based on the 802.15.4 standard. In order to improve compensation effect, a method that determines compensation functions with the least square support vector machine is proposed. Aiming at the phenomenon that traditional compensation methods are of excessively high costs, the theory of regional information sharing is put forward, which decreases the compensation cost by reducing the use of nodes.On the basis of theoretical analysis, EC-5 sensor soil temperature compensation function and soil conductivity compensation function are determined by the indoor experiments; At the same time, the area radius of information sharing for soil temperature and conductivity is determined by the outdoor experiments. The effect of soil moisture detection method of information sharing is verified on the farmland based on the determined area radius of information sharing. As the Experimental results shown, the method that determines the compensation function with the least square support vector machine has a good effect, and the soil moisture detection method based on information sharing of WSN can measure soil moisture with at a lower cost and high-precision.
