RS (Reed-solomon) code is the error control field of an important class of linear block codes, because of its superior error correction capability; they have been widely used in a variety of error control system, in order to meet the reliability of data transmission channel requirements. This article is designed to RS decoder is based on the standard CMMB demodulator chip, an important part, so the merits of its performance largely affects the overall system performance.Beginning of this article CMMB system, a brief introduction, followed by a limited domain, the basic concepts and algorithms are described, a brief introduction of the principle of cyclic codes and RS codes in time-domain algorithm, and then on the RS decoding algorithm in detail analysis, and different algorithms were compared, and then select the best from the decoding method for the design code, and finally, detailed design of RS decoder structure and the modules are implemented.This final design achieved with the RS decoding function of time-domain RS decoder, and made some improvements. In the RS decoder design, the critical equation is solved by the easy to achieve and better performance of the BM algorithm, and on the BM algorithm has been improved to avoid the original algorithm is in the process of inverse process, this can improve the system speed, saving logic resources, after which, combined with the actual demodulator chip works on the RS decoding process using assembly line approach, makes the decoding speed has been greatly improved, and finally the module passed the test in the system on EDA.
