Over the years, there is a problem with the Data Transter of three instruments, and the related supply departments want to solve this problem, but they don't have a very practical solution. At present, many property companies are still using the traditional manner to read the instrument meter. This management model of manual meter reading and reminder fee billing, which is not suitable for the requirements of modern information management bring troubles to both the user and the meter reader. Recent years, with the development of the MEMS, SOC, wireless communications and low-power embedded technology, the wireless sensor networks has a wider range of applications. Because of its easy installation, low cost, and lower cost of maintenance and updating, it has a good application in the acquisition of various environment or the information of monitoring object. With the internet of Things technology, time-section fare is gradually on the agenda, this dissertation designed a wireless communication protocol applied to automatic meter reading system.Firstly, this dissertation describes several current meter reading systems and compares their strengths and weaknesses, then it introduces the application of wireless sensors and the problems of designing the automatic meter reading system. Commonly in the wireless network, nodes are supported by batteries, so as much as possible to reduce energy consumption to extend battery life is an important problem. In this dissertation, ATMEL's ultra-low power chipset ATmegal28 is chosen as microprocessor for sensor nodes and nRF905 wireless transceiver module is used to implement wireless communication between nodes. According to location in the network, nodes form a multi-hop ad hoc networks. How to transfer nodes data reliably to control center node is a core issue of this dissertation. I adopted the medium access control protocol based on CSMA/CA, which combined with nRF905 carrier detection and RTS/CTS handshake mechanism to reserve channel. And the DSR routing protocol with on-demand routing protocol, can quickly find the best routing information from source node to the sink. Finally, the experimental results of this dissertation are presented, which proved the correctness of communication protocols, and verity the validity and reliability of data transmission, and then analyze the expansibility of the designation of automatic meter reading system.
