The electromagnetic environment the vehicular communication system worked is very complex, and multiple wireless devices are integrated in a communication vehicle with limited space. A very strong electromagnetic coupling is existing between each equipment, which results very serious problems of EMC. In order to evaluate adaptability of the system, it is greatly important to test the electromagnetic environment effects (E3) of the system. It is an inevitable choice to achieve its automatic test because of the number of test items, large number of testing data and easily to be affected by human factors.The testing methods of the electromagnetic environment effects for vehicular communication system is studies at first in this paper, and it is divided into system electromagnetic compatibility test, security margin test and radiation hazard filed test. Through researching the various testing methods, the methods easy to implement automatic test is found. The instrument used in the test is program-controlled, the automatic test progress is optimized and the sensitivity analysis model of test error to the interference bandwidth test is set and error analysis of bandwidth is carried out with the ambient noise level and the critical communication signal changed. Afterward, the database on the test system has been designed reasonably and the database based on ACCESS has been established. Finally, the automatic test software based on VB is programmed. The software makes the automatic test of electromagnetic environment effects come out.This automatic test system developed has been applied in a large number of projects and achieved good results.
