Two wireless systems of WLAN and AP with their related technologies are mainly studied in this thesis,a wireless AP based on embedded ARM platform is designed. Due to the open source code of Linux system, embedded Linux is used as the platform to greatly reduce the work of the wireless AP development in this thesis.A kind of wireless AP which is based on embedded ARM platform,software and wireless network card has been implemented.It has two wireless interface.One of them can communicate with any other AP.A Mesh network is composed of all these Aps by using Aodv routing protocol.This Mesh network can access to Internet through a gateway node.The other interface is used to communicate with the WLAN terminal.It provide indirect, multi-hop access to the Internet for the terminal.An infrastructure WLAN is composed of an independent AP and the WLAN terminal.At the end of this thesis, a wireless AP based on embedded ARM platform is set up in the actual test environment to achieve the function above, the result confirms that the design of the wireless AP based on embedded ARM platform in this thesis is correct indeed.
