Pen is a natural interaction method which has been used for thousands of years. People almost get used to the habit that using the pen as an interactive device, and it inherited the long-standing culture of the society, so it is a more natural and more efficient way of interaction. For the pen-based interaction, the hardware technology is already quite mature, a variety of interaction equipments appeared, and related software technology has greatly developed. It's a growing concern for many researchers as to the real-time simulation of music fountain since it is a fascinating decoration of cities and scenic spots which combines modern technology, music, and waterscape, etc. Modern music fountain has thousands of vents, which made it imposing and very large. Unfortunately, it has greatly increased the difficulty to simulate it.In this paper, we change and improve some pen-based interaction technologies, they are used to build the system and make the design job very funny and efficient. In this paper, a new approach for real-time simulation of large scale music fountain is proposed which incorporates fluid dynamics, particle system, music synchronization and general purpose GPU computation. The fountain particles are dynamically synchronized with music data, and simple dynamics equations of particles are used to simulate realistic fountain behavior. The real-time update of particle attributes such as position, speed and the real-time rendering of particles are achieved through the availability of high parallel processing power of modern GPUs. A new particle rendering method based on adaptive sampling in image space is also proposed for the sake of particle realism. The proposed algorithm has been verified and can be easily integrated into interactive applications for real-time fountain simulation.
