With the rapid development of computer network technology and digital technology, distance education has been entered the digital, intelligent and personalized stage. The new communication technology provides more selections for delivering the latest information and knowledge, and brings about a breakthrough for the construction of network resources. In the Asynchronous e-learning system, the recorded video about classroom teaching will be organized, packed up and distribute to the internet for the learners. As the primary form of e-learning courseware, PPT video is generally ambiguous because of the coarse projective equipment and poor light. In order to solve the problem, the streaming courseware creating system on the synchronization of video, source document and navigation is developed. However, such systems mostly have two questions: one is that manual synchronization brings about low efficiency; another is that the courseware is poorly sharable without e-learning specification.To solve the problems of fussy creating, long delay in transmission and poor sharing of the courseware in current asynchronous e-learning systems, the paper studies the key technologies for creating synchronous streaming courseware, designs one system to create such courseware, and implements the functions of resource organization, synchronous integration, courseware distributing and SCORM packaging. The well sharable and reusable courseware can be produced quickly by the system.One synchronous algorithm between PPT lecture video and source document is proposed in this paper. Firstly, based on the content-based video analysis technology, slide transitions are identified from the video and slide-based scenes are constructed. Then one Hough Transform-based algorithm is proposed to detect the PPT projection region. Lastly, sliding window-based image matching is used to identify the corresponding electronic slide for each scene, and the scene-slide couples are produced. How to add the synchronous result to the streaming video file as the metadata is discussed in the paper. How to create the web courseware in which the video, source document and the index are synchronous playing and distribute them to the streaming media server are explored. Moreover, the standardization process of the courseware based on SCORM specification is explained, and the creating process of SCORM-compliant package is provided to ensure the sharing and reusability of the courseware.The key technologies for creating synchronous streaming courseware are explored in the paper, which can reduce the workload of manual intervention, improve the efficiency of courseware creation, and have an important worth of educational application. At present, the courseware creating system designed and implemented in the paper has brought into effect and achieved good result.
