IT service industry is facing two major problems: One is that the complex relationship between SP and ISV, service management and marketing. The other one is that users have difficulties setting up applications. The evolution of software is heading SaaS, these problem can be resolved by an open platform. This thesis discussed the evolution, technical features and ecosystem of SaaS. Then we propose the concept, business model and system architecture of the Open Platform for Service Integration and Delivery.First of all, this thesis talk about the history of software industry, and imagined the feature of future software. The industry thinks SaaS as the future direction. Then we discuss the maturity model of SaaS. After that, we investigate the ecosystem, value chain, driving forces, categories and major players of SaaS industry.The thesis investigates the bottlenecks of IT service market are two major problems. One is that the complex relationship between SP and ISV, service management and marketing. This will cause a higher marketing and operating cost which will limit the market maximization. The other one is that users have difficulties setting up applications. This will cause a bad user experience. As a result immature IT service market calls for an agile, stable and user-friendly IT service platform. To deal with these probles, this thesis investigates existing IT service solutions including Microsoft, Bigfix and Appstream.This thesis raises the concept of Open Platform for Service Integration and Delivery which based on SaaS. We discuss the functions, business mode and application scenarios.In addition, this thesis investigates technologies which can be used by this platform. This thesis also presents the technical architecture, functional modules and related data model and database tables. |
