Typically, the traditional data network mainly includes four layers: IP, ATM,SONET/SDH, and DWDM. Such architecture has hindered the growth of the network, and also increased the cost of the network. To improve the interoperability between network devices, and to make the best use of the network resources in Hybrid Optical Network and All Optical Network, also, to support the increasing IP service demand, it is very urgent to seek for an optimal solution for next generation network, transmitting more service by the most economical and effective means. It is generally believed that optical network would develop into IP over DWDM with GMPLS protocol structure. GMPLS is an inevitable result of MPLS's extension to optical networks. GMPLS is a public control platform protocol being standardized. But because the standards of this technology are immature, networks based on GMPLS haven't been used broadly. Presently, IETF is devoting to the research of GMPLS standard, signaling protocol and routing expansion positively.This article elaborsted in the GMPLS design to the light network engineering support.Including the engineering mechanism.the traffic engineering structure ,restrains the route. According to MPLS in traffic engineering, we expansion to broad level. May use it to carry on the light way the current capacity assignment. Adapts with this, considered the light network the characteristic, we have designed one kind of new CSPF restraint route algorithm. Finally according to us to carry on the simulation to it, has confirmed its feasibility.So under this background, GMPLS and its kernel transmit module and traffic engineering design based on GMPLS are being discussed and researched.This is also an important part of this thesis. In this part, existing routing algorithms are introduced and compared. And the algorithm we proposed is analyzed and discussed. Finally, the simulation validation was carried out.The last part is a conclusion. This part summarized the main contents of this thesis. Simultaneously, existed problems are pointed out.
