Hyperspectral data can obtain continuous spectral curves of objects, and it has many advantages and can be used to detect the earth's surface with high precision, analyze biologic, physical and chemic processes and parameters for earth's surface quantitatively, interpret remote sensing image accurately and so on. Therefore, it has got more and more attention from professionals. With the deeply research on hyperspectrum, being built object spectral database has gradually become the focus of attention. Due to the impact of application field and spectrum collection apparatus, great changes will happen on attributive parameters and instrument parameters. Thus the distinct object spectral databases must be built aiming at different research fields. Although spectral libraries based on surface features have been built in our country, it is not still reported that the practical spectral library system aimed at the attributes information classification and extraction to the terrain element on surveying and updating relief maps. According to the point, through research on the present development status of object spectral database at home and abroad, it will be designed and developed to a terrain information spectral database for surveying and mapping application. Besides this the article studies the pivotal technique on how to build the spectral database. The primary research contents are listed as follows:1,By expatiating upon technical characteristics and predominances of hyperspectral remote sensing, the potential of object spectrum characteristic in terrain mapping and updating is analyzed with emphasis. Combined with the development status quo of object spectrum database at home and abroad, the necessity and feasibility of building terrain information spectral database are discussed.2,On the basis of system requirement analysis, system design principle and development method are discussed in this paper at length, the pivotal techniques in developing this system are investigated, and the technical course in system developing is made, which includes the design of system structure, data management platform as well as the design of data access engine.3,Ground spectral data model and image data model are analyzed in this paper. It optimizes the system by combining spectral and image information.4,After summing up the principles of object classification on different grade, the classification system based on relief map mapping and updating is put forward for the first time. Standardized processing is carried on before entering the database in order to make it accordant with specifications.5,Hyperspectral analysis method is integrated to this system, and it is realized to the fuctions of spectral data visualization, spectral feature analysis, and so on.
