Battery management system (BMS) is one of the crucial techniques of Electric Vehicle (EV). BMS can be divided into two layers in function: the lower one completes data acquisition; the upper one finishes the data processing, analyzing and controlling; Data transmission and exchange between the two layers are done via a data conduit.The lower layer data collecting system of BMS includes three parts: the front-end data acquisition modules, communication conduits, and the main controller. The data acquisition system introduces the centralized/distributed topological structure to enhance the flexibility and extensity for the system organization, and the reliability of the system. So it has a relatively good cost performance.Using 89C51 as their core, front end data collection modules have three functions, such as collecting, preprocessing and uploading the data of voltage, current and temperature. The "Bridge-Capacity" technique was adapted to accomplish the independent detection of the voltage data, and the one-wire bus temperature sensors DS18B20 were used to realize the digital mete acquisition of the temperature data; the magnetism-balance-voltage-output-type sensor was used to complete the independent collection of the current data. All these greatly improved the security and reliability of the system.Taking CAN bus as its data channel,the system realized the control and data transmission between the front-end data acquisition modules and the main controller.Applying embedded industrial controller UNO2052 as main controller, the system carried out the control of the front-end data acquisition modules, the acquisition, calculation, dynamic display and storage of data, the judgment and alarm of the battery state, and communicating with the main computer of the charger.Through tests, the results manifests that the system runs steadily, collects data steadily and reliably. So it has a relatively high use value in practice.
