The Theory of Record Life Cycle has been raised and quickly forms a upsurge since the early 1980's of the 20th century. After a period research of more than twenty years, the modes of the integrated management on document and achieve (IMDA) have been investigated much widely and intensively, but they were not unified and varied with each other.Under the guidance of the scientific outlook on development, this paper would like to explore and analysis the different modes of the document and achieve integral management. The comparative analysis, empirical analysis, as well as inductive method, were applied in this paper. By means of anglicizing of the existing mode of IMDA, some questions with general character on the modes of IMDA have been pointed out in this paper. One purpose of this article is to show that IMDA is the most rational method during the management of the documents on the stage, which conclusion is based on the detailed analysis of theory and the current status of IMDA. On the other hand, the required essentials of the IMDA modes are investigated based on the analysis of the existing ones in our country, which is also the other purpose of this article. All the efforts above will be a valuable reference to the realization of the IMDA in the future.Beginning with the relationship between the definition of file and document, several versions about IMDA at home and abroad have been analyzed. A more scientific definition and meaning of IMDA is clear nowadays in our country. The results indicate that IMDA is a more reasonable and effective management mode by analyzing the theoretical basis of IMDA, the theory of record life cycle and file continuum theory, as well as the expansion for them, such as front-end control, whole-process management, and File Management Theory regarding source principle as the core.Laws and regulations of the achieves have been analyzed together with the national standards for them in our country, and the results indicate that law basis about the IMDA has been almost achieved. The development of information technology is described, including Internetworking Technology, Web Server Technology, Net Storage and Data Management Technology, Internet Security Technology , and digital information technology that consists of Scanning Technology, Image Processing Technology, OCR Technology and Video Graphy Technology, Full Text Search Technology. It comes to a conclusion that the technological base for IMDA has been improved greatly. The IMDA is the wave of the future, which should be performed throughout the country.The original germination and the development process for IMDA in our country have been retrospected, and several representative modes have been analyzed. Combined with several rational models of IMDA in China, such as Golden Audit Project of Zhejiang Provincial Audit Office, the IMDA of Tianjin, the security system for electronic document for Zhejiang Provincial archive, as well as the IMDA system of Yunnan University. By means of analyzing the characteristic, management process, management mode, technique and their criterion of the existing examples, the reasonable process modes and the derived questions of IMDA have been built up for our country.There are still many obstacles existing in the practice of IMDA. The fist reason is the remaining historical reason, that is, in 1950's the documents and achieves were charged by two separated department. Secondly, there is not an uniform for IMDA, and there are also various standard formats coexisted. What's more, the derived problems are still remained on the formats of the existing e-files and the backwardness during the file systematic construction.In this paper, the management of the IMDA contents, characteristics, and special implementation programs are analyzed systematically, which will improve the IMDA mode greatly in theory.
