The development and catalog of laser distance measurement will be covered first in this article which also analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of all the variations of this kind of measurement. Through analyzing combined with the actual needs, we come to the conclusion that we should select the pulse laser distance measuring implementation; and this paper also shows the deep research of pulse laser measuring system.The core of the study is to design the overall control and data processing part of the laser scanning system. Based on features of some embedded technology, such as ARM and FPGA, a new wireless network-based laser scanning control method has emerged, with which we completed the software and hardware design of this system, and gave the corresponding specifications as well.A Linux OS based platform was built using ARM microcontroller, and TCP/IP based real-time network high speed transfer was implemented. Thanks to the FPGA technology, the communication interface and data processing of the laser distance measuring sensor and multiturn absolute encoder was established; shortcomings of traditional laser distance measurement sensors control system and data processing system are overcome. The laser scanning system designed is experimented in field successfully and good test result was obtained.
