Along with the fast development of computer and communications technology, the embedded system has been used more and more widely. it has become a research focus of IT and presents great market demand. DPF(Digital Photo Frame)whose main function is keeping, replaying and showing pictures is a new application of embedded system. Now, digital camera and photo mobile phone have become universal consumable, which makes the quantity of personal photos increasing fast. So it is a great waste of money if we deal with photos as before, and it is also discommodious to keep these photos. So DPF is rising, and its functions of replaying and keeping photos are better than the traditional method.The DPF with the functions of keeping, replaying and showing pictures under touch pad controlling was realized in this design. The PL1061 which is a multimedia professional chip, and integrated JPEG module and multiplicate memory cards interfaces was used as the CPU of the DPF, and the driver and application programs for the DPF were designed based on uCLinux OS in this paper.Firstly, the hardware system of the DPF was introduced in this paper. The hardware platform is composed with the multimedia professional chip PL1061 and peripheral units such as basic memory, I/O and so on.Then, the software system of the DPF was introduced in the paper. The software system is composed with three parts, OS, driver and application programs. For the OS, the development, memory management, process management and device driver theorem of the uCLinux were introduced. For the device driver, the designing conception and implementation flow of the touch pad driver and memory management driver were presented in the paper. For the application, the algorithms and implementation flow of front-end display and background processing were showed in the paper.At last, the debug of the DPF was presented, and the solutions of questions in the debug were supplied in the paper.
