The HDLC(High_Level Data Link Control),developed by the ISO,is bit-oriented protocol of link layer.It shows many characteristics,such as powerful error detection, high efficiency and synchronous transmission,etc.And it is one of the most popular protocols in the field of communication.With the development of concentration and technics of large scale integrated circuits,protocols used in HDLC module of ARM processor,contain most subsets of HDLC protocols.If the communication through HDLC,is controlled by ARM processor,it will save cost,be more flexible and be able to be expanded to practical software in operating system.Under this background,this paper proposed a plan in transmission link layer,using ARM processor,which involved many simple protocols,based on HDLC subsets.under the background of the rapid development of Embedded Systems,The author had studied link layer communication protocols based on the core part of ARM,and expressed the HDLC frame structure,characteristics and working principle in detail, and put forward two formulas to achieve the HDLC based on the ARM chip,and expressed the design project,the key code and debugging methods.Among them,the author focused on how to achieve interrupt mode without the operating system,and how to achieve HDCL protocol on the ARM chip under the operating system.
