Nowadays, crucial applications of national economy and security have heavily relied on information technology. Therefore, how to effectually improve the emergency response and disaster recovery ability of the information system has become an urgent issue in the information security domain.Current researches on disaster recovery, emergency response, system recovery and database recovery always emphasize particularly on the method of data backups and recovery. Emergency response decision-makings mostly employ the method of optimal selection and recovery from local or remote data backups, rather than the method of service recovery. It is not satisfied when the data method is applied to the emergency response and disaster recovery applications on the services of the open distributed information systems. Based on the practical requirements of emergency response, this paper has studied on the mechanism of service recovery, and has achieved the following contributions.Firstly, the conception of Emergency Response Oriented Service Recovery has been defined. The existing technologies of emergency response and disaster recovery have been studied in depth, and the key ideas, technological characteristics and applicable scopes of these traditional methods have been summarized. Combining with the conceptions of Web service composition and Quality of Service (QoS), and applying the existing technologies of service recovery, this paper has defined the conception of emergency response oriented service recovery to realize emergency response, and generalized the meaning and the features of services under the mechanism.Secondly, the model and the architecture for emergency response oriented service recovery have been proposed. Using the classic dynamic information security system PDRR-model for reference, 5-R Model has been proposed for service recovery planning, which provides universal methodology for the service recovery mechanism. Emergency Response Oriented Service Recovery Architecture has been proposed based on the 5-R Model, which reveals the conceptual construction and the functional characteristics of service recovery mechanism. The architecture provides the structural foundation for the implemention of service recovery mechanism.Thirdly, three service recovery decision-making algorithms have been designed and implemented. Three algorithms could be properly selected according to the actual requirements. 1) Service recovery planning based on graph theory, for the specific emergency response needs, using the thought of Bellman Dynamic Programming, ensures the optimality of the planning effectively. 2) Service recovery planning based on information entropy, for a variety of evaluation criteria or different emergency response needs, solves the multi-objective decision-making problem reasonably. 3) Service recovery planning based on generalized satisfactory degree principle, for the requirements focus on the qualities of the recovered services, optimizes the complexity of the time and the space, and provides the extended satisfying solution for the recovery decision-making.Finally, the service recovery decision-making prototype system has been designed and implemented. The functional test and the performance analysis have been carried out. And the demo of Bookstore in Web has been used for the comparison among the three algorithms. Experimental results have showed the rationality and feasibility of service recovery mechanism, while theoretical analysis of computing complexity has given a good explanation for its reliability and high efficiency.
