With the rapid development of economy and improvement of material and cultural level, tourism becomes prosperous and makes it become an important portion of national economy. However, with the amount of tourist shoot up, it not only cause great pressure of environment and tourism management, but also give much trouble and losing to the tourist. For protecting the environment, managing the tourism resource, and giving quick information to the tourist, using Surveillance and Statistic of People-Stream System is become an inevitable trend of the current tourism.This thesis topic is to design an actual project. Its done using the Intel XScale micro processor PXA270 as the kernel of the hardware, transplanting the embedded Linux as the operation system and Qt/E as embedded graphic library, then carry out moving target detection and tracking algorithm, video compression program and message send program. At last, we optimized the program aiming at the embedded platform characteristic.This paper introduces the structure of the Surveillance and Statistic of People-Stream in Tourism and the process of developing both hardware system and software system. Firstly, it introduces the embedded Linux concept and trait. Secondly, it describes the whole functions of the Surveillance and Statistic of People-Stream in Tourism system. Thirdly, it details the system platform and hardware, mainly the processor's characteristic and hardware system of each module's electric circuit design. Fourthly, it goes into the system platform operating system construction, which contents transplant the embedded Linux OS and Qt/E. Fifthly, it describes the development and realization of the application, mainly the details of moving targets detection and tracking algorithm, video compression based on Intel IPP library. Finally it describes the program optimization and test. The project requirements have been carried out which mainly uses embedded technology, Image Filtering, multiple moving targets detection and tracking technology, video compression, sending message technology .etc. The system has finally accomplished surveillance and statistic of People-Stream in tourism, personal scheduling, improving the tourism management. At last, the system receives an excellent result.
