A method which uses the SOPC technique to develop the AWG has been introduced in this paper. Mainly, the paper discusses the design & realized of DDS custom component, NiosⅡhardware system and the system's control software.Some contents about frequency synthesizer and signal modulation technique which is related to the subject are introduced at first.And then the framework and scheme of system is given after we study SOPC technology in detail.Followed by this the hardware_logic and software drivers of DDS component was designed and realized.At last, the functional realization of each component and some questions which must be pay much attention in the system design is represented and analyzed in detail.As the kernel of the AWG, DDS component comprised of DDS hardware_ logic and the component's driver. DDS based on CORDIC and DDS based on RAM LUT are combined together to realize the DDS logic in the course of design hardware_logic of DDS component. The former is used to generate sine and cosine with high quality while the later can provide various forms of arbitrary waveform signal conveniently.The control registers which are designed to change the mode and parameters of DDS component,Avalon interface_logic of custom component, the logic of signal modulation and the DDS_logic compose the hardware_ logic of DDS component.In order to facilitate the work of system to under control , LCD controller's interface and keyboard controller are developed. In the control software design, the HAL and ISR,as well as control program flow chart of software are discussed in detail.Test results indicate: the functions of arbitrary waveform production, DS, HF, BPSK,BFSK and so on are achieved. The various parameters of waveform can be regulated through the registers of DDS component.
