The Universal Network separates the identifier and locator, which can resolve the lack of scalability and security. In this thesis, the design of the inter-domain routing protocol for the Universal Network projects is studied. This design adopts separation-and-mapping of AID and SRID and can resolve the BGP routing scalability problem arised from the overloading of IP addresses with the semantics of both "who"(endpoint identifier,as used by transport layer) and "where"(locators for the routing system). In addition, the current BGP policies are not able to select the better route according to the geographic length, which will lead to longer delay and lower performance. This design introduces Geographic Information and design the policy based geographic length, which can reduce the network delay and improve the network performance. In this thesis,Firstly, the basic composition and working principle of the Border Gateway Protocol and the architecture of the Universal Network are introduced. Secondly,on the basis of the in-depth study of the Universal Network,we propose an inter-domain routing protocol design for the Universal Network. The ID separation module is brought in,which separates the Accessing Identifier and Switching Routing Identifier in the inter-domain routing design,in addition, the design of Switching Routing Identifier for the Universal Network which introduce the geographical information field and the geographical information field used to provide detailed measurement information and a richer path selection strategy were put forward.Thirdly, the proposed design scheme is programmed on the Linux platform, which includes VTY shell module,ID separation module, adding location information module, decision processing module, and so on.Fourthly,we set up the test topology, designed some test cases for functional testing of modules. The test results show that:the Inter-domain Routing Protocol of Universal Network can separate the Accessing Identifier and Switching Routing Identifier correctly;Through the VTY shell module, location information can be configured and added correctly which can display in the terminal; When proceeding route selection decision, the protocol is able to select the better route according to the geographic length. Finally, some future work to be made is presented.
