With the development of computer technology in product manufacturing processes, technology of CAD/CAM has become mature, the process design as the connection of product design and manufacturing, which degree of computer applications is not high enough, and the effect is not obvious. An important factor impact its development is, CAPP secondary input information is so boring and expression of knowledge acquisition is also not perfect, the level of intelligent decision-making process is not high. This subject explore a method of process, based on technology of Object-oriented and Hierarchical-planning, and also researched the application of the 3D CAPP technology more in-depth and according this theory, developed the intelligent technology systems ,named Fast-CAPP.Firstly the paper outlines the researching status of CAPP technology at home and abroad, summed up the deficiencies and technical problems in present CAPP system, and proposed solutions of Fast-CAPP system; using UG secondary tools UG/Open API, to design the information extraction module of CAD, and stored the encoded information by the application of GT. And then use the Object-oriented technology to analyse, model and express the knowledge of process; to decompose the complex tasks of process and the geometric parts by the application of Hierarchical-planning methods, and by the combination of rule-based reasoning and case-based reasoning of SOM neural network, to solve the subtasks after decomposition and the process decision-making of geometric feature. Secondly, as taking advantages of the PDM which has the function of document management, user rights management and counter-flow management, to establish the CAD/CAPP/PDM integration model.Finally, on the basis of the theory, this article to develop Fast-CAPP system on the 3D platform of UG, this system use of wizard-based design flow, for easy-to-use and fully functional. Through relevant examples verified this researching process system not only is feasible in technical theory, but also has strong practicality.
