On The Function Of The Mass Media In Constructing The Learning Society

Today, the society has entered the era of knowledge economy, knowledge is in a centrality. Knowledge acquisition, knowledge innovation and the ability of the knowledge application decide the level of development of every country and every member of society. At such a time, constructing a learning-oriented society which everybody can learn anywhere at any moment has become the new ideal of the people, then people started to make efforts to implement it all over the world. Only every member of a society is learning continuously, human beings will find the right answer to the problems in such a changing society. The society in which we live is also in an era of mass media. The information dissemination activities of books, newspapers, radio, television, networks, and other forms of mass media have penetrated into all aspects of social life. Mass media is rich and powerful, it is helpful to learning activities of the entire society and every society member indispensably. This article seeks to have a rational knowledge about the relationship between mass media and social development and analyze the positive role which mass media play to the construction of learning society in our country, then have a reasonable sight on the negative effort which the relative factors about mass media make on the construction of learning society and put forward the corresponding countermeasures.This text is divided into three parts. The first part is mainly centered on the reason of the mass media can play an important role in the construction of learning society. It is intend to affirm that mass media can play a role in the construction of learning society by analyzing the occurrence and development of mass media, mass media's function in the development of the society and the characteristics of mass media.The second part discusses the way which mass media plays a role in the process of the construction of learning society. The theory and practice of learning society's construction in our country has its own unique advantages and limitations. This paper analyzes the positive effort which mass media have on the construction of learning society based on the characteristics of mass media and the construction of learning society. As for the characteristics of mass media, mass media can not only transfer correct concept and expand the participation of society members about learning context, but also expand the time and space of learning and improve the learning ways. As for the construction of learning society, both of the two main body of learning society-the individual members of learning society and learning organization need the support of mass media for their development and construction.The third part analyzes the possible adverse impact which mass media's characteristics and development make on the learning society's construction by the interaction of various factors about mass media. Mass media has functions on politics, economy, social control, cultural transmission, and entertainment, so it will cause varying degrees of negative impact on learning activities. Whether you can deal with the relationship between mass media and educational institutions would influence on the effect of the learning activities from basic education, social and public opinion and so on. Grouping and the "knowledge gap" in the developing process of mass media make the social members and groups possess asymmetric knowledge because of various reasons, and make a serious impact on the achievement of learning society. At the same time, this article bring about a number of more targeted, comprehensive strategies by analyzing the above factors, then try the best to minimize the negative effects which mass media have on the construction of learning society.
