With the rapid development of global manufacturing, collaborative design has gradually become the focus of CAD applications. Collaborative design is a strong real-time technology, and it is very important to maintain the agility of design and product development. However, the related theory is not yet ripe and the practical system is also rare, so there are many problems to be solved and many key technologies required to be captured. With the development of computer science, agent is playing a significant role in the field of artificial intelligence and computer science. Collaborative design based on Multi-Agent System is a focus of the research of collaborative design, and it has provided some solutions to introduce Multi-Agent theory to the field of collaborative design.Multimedia interactive technology, in which the main content is technologies such as audio and video, is one of the main supporting technologies in collaborative design system. Communication with audio and video information is the most frequently used and most natural way in the course of human collaboration. Therefore, in order to carry out collaborative design better, multimedia information is essential. With the help of integrating multimedia technology into CSCD(Computer Supported Collaborative Design), in the form of video conferencing system, as an assistant interactive collaboration tool, the information which can not be expressed easily in the form of letter among designers can be expressed more fast and intuitively.Multi-Agent technology is applied to the collaborative design in this paper. Adopting the JADE (Java Agent Development Framework) platform as framework, a multimedia intelligent CAD collaborative design software (MICAD platform for short) is designed. With MICAD, intelligent agents can communicate interactively with each other through the network environment. Collaboration between designers in different places is realized, that is "You see what I see". Each designer's operation will be reflected in others' platform. In this platform, every man, design software, management software, equipment and resource is regarded as a single agent, the traditional design can be abstracted to be interaction between agents, and the true meaning of digital collaborative design is achieved. Multimedia technology is integrated into MICAD platform, so communication and identity authentication among collaborative designers from different areas are more convenient, which ensures the safety of collaborative design to some extent.Conflict is an inevitable and essential problem in Multi-Agent system and conflict resolution plays a central role in collaborative design. In this paper, with the research on conflict types and conflict resolution in Multi-Agent system, a prototype system of conflict resolution is presented, adopting solution of deadlock problems in the operating system to conflict prevention and classifying the conflicts to match solution strategies according to their features. Video conference negotiation strategy based on MICAD platform, which is researched and implemented by our team, is adopted to deal with new conflicts that can not get matching strategies.
