Optical communication of high-speed,high-capacity is the direction of the future communication.In recent years,optical time division multiplexing(OTDM) technology has become a better candidate in improving system's capacity for its potential advantages and become a research hotspot at home and abroad.The research of OTDM has also made encouraging progress:At present the rate of OTDM abroad (laboratory) has been as high as 1.28Tbit/s;Many universities and research institutes in our country have also developed the research,and 160Gbit/s optical time division multiplexing technology has been the hotspot in recent years.Now OTDM technology is still in the laboratory stage,as yet in non-practical use. High speed OTDM faces many more challenges.This paper mainly conducted the research deep in 160GHz optical time division multiplexer and multilevel code OTDM. The major work completed includes:1 Based on theoretical and experimental,we have analyzed the time-delay adjustment methods of 160GHz optical time division multiplexer.Then we employed the method which combines fixed and adjustable delay line to adjust the time-delay. The performance of 160GHz optical time division multiplexer was observed in Experiment.2 We Observed that the inaccurate repetition rate,changes of temperature and laser had a greater impact on the performance of 160GHz optical time division multiplexer in the experiment.And then analyzed the impact of this three factors on the performance of 160GHz optical time division multiplexer from the theoretical.3 By studying a variety of codes' spectrum efficiency and optical modulation,we posed the transmission scheme which is multilevel code OTDM transmission.For multilevel OTDM transmission system we have designed it and made the related theoretical research.The conclusion of theoretical research includes:①From the performance of transmission to analyze multilevel code,it causes the increase of nonlinear effect;②From the specific realization to analyze this system,the gain saturation of optical amplifier and the sensitivity of optical receiver make the realization of it more difficult.Finally,we posed the methods of suppression for nonlinear effect.
