Analysis On The Motivation Of The Political Entertainment In TV Variety Shows Of Taiwan

Political entertainment,a phenomena in the tend of media entertainment, receives more and more concern in recent years. Among those areas in Asia Pacific influenced by the democratization trend in the 1980th, Taiwan is a typical representative, and the deepening of political entertainment even have directly influenced the variety shows of Taiwan.This paper attempts to probe into the motivation and causes of this phenomena on the basis of analyzing this specific media cultural products from in the background of the culture in Taiwan society, and through the TV text, we can have a restricted view about the features of the political culture of Taiwan in the specific historical period after the shifting from the Authoritarian System.The author thinks that political entertainment in Taiwan TV variety shows develops in the context of post-modern political culture, on the premise of competitive democracy and free speech. It meets the demands of the audience for entertainment and decompression, and is driven by the commercial essence of the mass media. For Taiwan variety shows, political entertainment not only accords with the commonness above, also poses a result of abused amusement, pan-politicization and over-commercialization after the shifting from the Authoritarian System.This paper will research from the aspects of cultural context, social system, psychology of audience and media ecology. Political satire show is a typical program formation of political entertainment in Taiwan TV variety shows. In this thesis, the analysis on"Everybody Speaks Nonsense"Series is a case study in the research.
