With the development of information technology, the rapid growth of information and higher level need of information consumer make informalization Semantic become the trend of information sharing and management. Ontology as a model which featured as good compatibility and common use, has been researched for years in these fields. Besides the use in application, the management of Ontology is being paid attention and researched due to its frequent update. Temporal information is a kind of skill which has been widely applied in many fields. It will improve the ability to describe knowledge when temporal information added into Ontology and at the same time, it is a contribution to Ontology management.Due to the data in heterogeneous sources with more or less temporal information, ontology should fully support the representation of temporal information. In order to enable ontology to represent and deal with the information about time conveniently, the concept of valid time is introduced into ontology and the temporal ontology is proposed in this dissertation. Then need of storage management, temporal querying and temporal reasoning is analyzed, and the storage management approach, temporal querying operators, temporal reasoning operators and related theorems are proposed. Verification experiments are designed and carried out.On the basis of temporal ontology, the key technology on version controls and management of temporal ontology is studied. Corresponding transaction time to the version information of ontology, bitemporal ontology is presented. The full content of the bitemporal ontology can support two-dimensional time, which is valid time and transaction time. Then the storage management and querying operator on bitemporal ontology is classified and designed.On the basis of the above, the prototype of bitemporal ontology management system is implemented and used in the field of information integration experiment. The tests show the prototype can solve the problem of representation, storage and querying of knowledge with temporal heterogeneity. Besides these, according to the integration of temporal information, the semantic conflicts caused by temporal heterogeneity in global data layers are eliminated.The study in this dissertation plays a significant role in the field of enhancing ontology with the ability of temporal representation and eliminating semantic conflicts caused by temporal heterogeneity in information integration system.
